Flannan’s 1st Year Girls Secure Second Win in Clare Schools LGFA

The 1st Year girls’ LGFA panel from St. Flannan’s College secured their second victory in the Clare Schools competition on Friday, overcoming a strong Ennistymon Community School side in Lahinch.

Flannan’s started brightly, with inside forwards Alli Donnelly and Ellie Sheedy combining for six early points. Wing forward Sarah Brodie added to the momentum with two well-taken goals, giving Flannan’s a commanding lead. However, Ennistymon responded swiftly, capitalizing on quick breaks to score 2-3 in succession. Just as the momentum seemed to shift, Clara Vaughan struck for a crucial goal and added two points, while Charley Duggan chipped in with another, helping Flannan’s regain control before the break.

Facing into a strong wind in the second half, Flannan’s defense, led by Isabelle Mangan, Ayda Ryan, and Emily Hick, stood firm. Their disciplined performance limited Ennistymon to just a goal and a point, ensuring the opposition never gained a foothold.

At the other end, Flannan’s attack remained clinical. Emma Browne found the net, while Ellie Sheedy added two more goals to cap off an impressive individual and team display. In the end, Flannan’s had done enough to secure a well-earned victory, continuing their strong run in the competition.
