Junior Camogie News
Congratulations to our two junior camogie teams, who both qualified for their respective county finals this Thursday. Both sides were faced with the difficult task of having to play a semi-final almost immediately after emerging victorious from their quarter-final, and the fact that both teams emerged victorious is a testament to the talent and attitude they showed on the day.
Starting off were our Junior B’s , who faced St. Patricks Comprehensive and after a blistering first half, emerged victorious on a scoreline of 7-8 to 1-1. We would meet Shannon opponents in the semi final, and while scores were harder to come by, the girls dug deep to defeat St. Caimans on a scoreline of 3-3 to 1-2.
Following this, our Junior A’s met St. Annes Killaloe in their quarter final and after a slow start, we ran out worthy winners on a scoreline of 1-8 to no score. This earned us the right to play Colaiste Mhuire for a place in the final. Against a side who we sometimes have struggled against, we absolutely blitzed the school from the other side of Ennis. The final scoreline of St. Flannans 5-06 to the Colaiste’s 1 solitary point didnt flatter us in the slightest, in what was one of the best performances from a camogie side in Flannans in many a year.
Both teams now prepare for their finals which will take place in a few weeks time where our A’s will face Scarriff and our B’s will face Ennistymon, with venues and times yet to be decided. Once again congratulations to all involved on what was a great day for camogie in the college.
